Choosing a nursery that is right for you and your child is one of the major decisions as a parent you may have to make. The difficulty
is finding out what a nursery is really like.
We recognise that children learn more in their first five years than in the whole of the rest of their lives. Therefore we place great importance on creating strong relationships between parents and staff which will assist in ensuring your child has an enjoyable and fruitful time whilst they are with us.
Family owned and run, The Old School House Day Nursery opened in 1994 and is now a thriving full time nursery looking after
eighty children from birth to five years. We are located in a converted Victorian school building which has recently undergone a £750K full refurbishment and improvement programme to provide a range of excellent facilities both indoors and out.
We believe that children deserve to have the best environment to play safely and have always taken care to design spaces that children enjoy. We equip and maintain our nursery to the highest standards to give children opportunities for exploration and
discovery. At the same time we maintain a family feel where staff can get to know all the children and parents.
Consistently high standards of educational provision are reflected in outstanding Ofsted reports and the prestigious and
nationally recognised Investors in People award was received in May 2000. More recently The Old School House became the first day nursery in the country to be awarded IIP UK Champion status.
We believe meals should be tasty, varied and nutritionally well balanced. We follow a red meat-free diet, but we work closely
with parents to make sure every child's individual needs are met.
All meals are prepared daily on site by our nursery chef. Where possible, fresh produce will always be used and special or cultural
diets are recognised and catered for. Quality is a theme that runs through every area of our nursery, and our menu is no exception,
break, lunch and tea menus are displayed daily on the noticeboard.
As children begin to work out who they are, how they feel about themselves, how they relate to other people and how to communicate their excitement and fears, it is critical that those around them can
understand and support their development. Early years educators play a critical role in young children's learning.
Just as we are committed to the development of our children, so we are committed to the growth of our people. All staff are provided with continuous, high quality professional training and development.
