Once Upon a Time Day Nurseries - Uxbridge Baby nursery is conveniently situated in central Uxbridge; just a 3-minute walk from the bus and underground train stations. The baby nursery is well-established and is open all year round from 8.00am - 6.00pm taking children from 3 months - 3 years. We offer both full day care and part time places.
We are a High/Scope based nursery and believe that children should be given choice and have opportunities to access all areas freely. We achieve this by having a wide range of equipment out throughout the day, which is at the children's level. We are an inclusive setting with two Inclusion Co-ordinators who attend regular training courses. We work very closely with outside agencies to support children, families and the staff team with regard to any child who may have additional needs.
OUR ROOMS
Within our setting, we have two big bright rooms which we have made into one linked, large area to enable the children to flow and rotate freely to each activity. This layout gives the children direct access to a wide range of experiences such as the Book Area, Art Area, Sand and Water Trays, Construction, Small World Area, House Area and Soft baby Area. Other activities include painting, sticking, oblick, play dough, building and much more.
In the larger of the 2 rooms, we have a low panel dividing off a soft area for the non-mobile babies. This area is packed safely away after lunch and is where the children sleep between 12noon - 2.00 pm. If the children wish to sleep at other times of the day, then we place them in a quiet area away from the noisy activities.
OUTSIDE AREA
We have an outside grassed area in which the children access daily, with equipment such as bikes, tunnels, balls, slides, cars, sand and water tray and seesaws. Each day we have an outside 'focus activity,' which include activities such as painting, crayoning, house area, dressing up, the parachute, music and movement, singing and construction toys. In the summer months we provide gazebos for shade and allow the children access to the paddling pool.
DIETARY INFORMATION
Once Upon a Time promotes healthy eating. We do this by providing freshly prepared cooked food ranging from meat dishes, pasta dishes, vegetables, salads and taking into consideration cultural foods. Puddings include fruit, yoghurts, rice pudding and home-made fruit pies. We cater for children with allergies and any other dietary needs.
