We provide breakfast, a cooked lunch and a tea, all of which are prepared freshly on the premises by our dedicated Cook, along with daily portions of fruit for snacks and water is available all day. Our menus are varied with vegetarian options available. We encourage parental input to our menus and are happy to cater for any dietary requirements.
Our Hall is very well equipped and set at the children's level, allowing them independent access to the various activities available to them. This is in keeping with our implementation of the "High/Scope" philosophy; a learning system based on children planning and implementing their own play.
Each child is assigned a Key Worker who plans activities around their groups individual needs and completes a Development Pack for each child. Each child is given their own unique symbol to help them identify their personal belongings. They have access to a range of ICT equipment including digital cameras and a laptop computer.
Our Toddler's Area is designed for children age 2-3 years and here we work on a staff/child ratio of 1:4. Four qualified staff manage this area, three of which have attained Level 3 standard. The staff plan their activities around "Birth to Three Matters"; a framework developed to focus on the aspects of each individual child and how they can become independent and confident learners. As well as taking part in the different activities throughout the day, the children have the opportunity to sleep after lunch. Shortly after turning 3 years the children will 'move' into our Pre-school Area with their Key Worker ensuring a smooth transition into their next stage of development.
Our Pre-school Area accommodates children aged 3 - 5 years. The staff ratio is 1:8 and seven of our staff in this room are qualified; three of them to Level 3 standard. The children's activities are planned around the "Foundation Stage"; a curriculum designed to help the children meet the necessary milestones they need to be prepared for school.
Surrounding Areas
We have 2 enclosed play areas for the children, where they are able to extend their learning. One is a large soft-floor area where they have access to bikes, cars, balancing equipment etc. We also have a large enclosed grassed play area to the rear of the building. We have an annual trip each year for the whole family and in recent years have visited places such as Legoland, Drusilla's Park and Woburn Abbey Safari Park.
