Feltham Hill Nursery
Feltham Hill Nursery

Feltham
Nursery's own web site
This exciting new setting; part of the innovative Feltham Hill Children's Centre opened in January 2008. We aim to offer our parents a sense of security, knowing that their child will be safe and happy when in our care. We aim to assist the children to develop without the pressures associated with some other forms of learning. To achieve this, our toys and equipment are carefully chosen to allow the child's skills to be put to best use.

The setting is within a totally refurbished building adjacent to Feltham Hill Junior School (less than a mile from Feltham Station). All our staff are qualified and experienced or are in supervised training. They attend regular training courses to keep up to date with the latest recommendations and changes in delivering the highest standard of care and education.

We have dedicated activity areas for each age-related area of the hall designed by Community Playthings and offering Art; Home Corner; Book Corner and Construction and Technology. All activities are easily accessible and are designed very much with the child's needs in mind. This is in keeping with our implementation of the "High/Scope" philosophy; a learning system based on children planning and implementing their own play. Staff support this by clear picture and word labelling on equipment and encouragement, communication and interaction during the children's play. The children's work is utilised to make bright and colourful displays within the setting.

Each child is assigned a Key Worker who plans activities around their group's individual needs and completes a Development Pack based on the Birth to Three or the Foundation Stage curriculum for each child. They also maintain a weekly Homelink Book to advise parents/carers of the activities and events they have participated in. Each child is given their own unique symbol to help them identify their personal belongings. They also have access to a range of ICT equipment including digital cameras and a laptop computer.

Security
The entrance has an electronic fingerprint recognition system for staff and parents will be let in by a staff member. If a child is to be collected by someone other than a parent/guardian then a password and description is required.

Outside Area
The garden area is fully fenced off to ensure security and safety for the children whilst playing outside. The garden play area has a large range of bikes, scooters, trikes etc and areas will be created for children to explore nature and mini-beasts.
