The Mulberry Bush Montessori Nursery is situated on the Island of West Mersea, approx 8 miles south of Colchester. The building is a quaint, single story wooden structure with a very homely and welcoming feel. It is light, airy and spacious. We have an office, kitchen, lobby and cloakrooms, a large Montessori classroom, art and crafts room, home corner and an all weather play area.
We have a lovely lawned secure garden, with natural shade. It has a large Pirate ship with sand pit, captains cabin and upper and lower decks, we have lots of bikes, trikes, scooters, dolls prams, bats & balls, forte, trampoline, sea-saw, climbing frames, picnic benches and our very own Three Bears Cottage. We have two raised gardening beds where we grow our own vegetables and we have a very friendly pet Rabbit called Bracken.
We operate five full days per week from 9am till 3.45pm term time only.
We provide a substantial, nutritious and tasty snack and the children bring their own packed lunch. We have around 20 children per day ranging from 2.5yrs to 5yrs and the children are free to move around the different rooms and all weather play area as they wish, selecting purposeful, fun activities which are neatly displayed at child level.
Staff are all qualified to a minimum of level 3 and follow the Montessori method and philosophy throughout the nursery. The ethos is one of calm and order, staff are all experienced and positive role models. Achievement and efforts are praised and celebrated and the children's development is nurtured and learning is scaffolded and supported in a holistic and individual approach, to enable each child to develop the skills, confidence and positive self esteem to reach their full potential in all areas of development.
The Mulberry bush Nursery offers equal opportunities and strives to offer inclusive practice, where every child is unique and an individual.
