Greenacres Montessori Nursery School is situated in Leatherhead Cricket Pavilion, adjacent to the Leisure Centre Complex. Set in spacious grounds, the school offers ample safe parking and excellent outdoor facilities.
Our aim is to provide a safe, stimulating environment catering for the individual child's needs. By using the Montessori materials and methods we are able to tailor a specific learning timetable to suit each child's needs and capabilities working towards the DFEE's Early Learning Goals across the curriculum.
The Montessori child is self-educated, learning at their own pace, with qualified staff on hand to introduce the relevant apparatus, answer questions and share in the child's joy of achievement.
Our varied curriculum includes language, mathematics, art, craft, science, geography, history, French, music and movement, singing, drama and cooking.
The children are free to choose their own activities within a prepared environment and their progress is closely monitored so that they achieve the maximum benefit from the materials on offer. Allowing the child freedom of choice promotes an early feeling of self-awareness, independence and self respect from within.
The socialisation of the child is also important within the nursery and the vertical grouping of the class enables the younger ones to learn from the older children, while the older members of the class benefit from the feeling of responsibility and respect earned by helping others. We aim to educate the 'whole child' by introducing and practicing social graces and skills and ensuring the children learn to treat others and their environment with respect.
The pre-school years are an exceptional time, when good foundations can be laid to maximise the child's future learning potential. We aim to prepare each child and nurture their natural desire to learn, allowing them to take their next educational step as independent, self-confident young individuals.
