In one of Britain's first organic nursery schools offering not only organic foods and drinks, but an organic curriculum as well, it is our philosophy that before any learning can take place, the child must feel:
safe
confident
happy
So, that's exactly what we do: offer your child a safe, happy and stimulating environment in which to grow. The curriculum complies with the OFSTED Birth to Three Matters and Foundation Stage educational goals to early learning and is child-lead, so all children learn at their own pace.
Our nursery also teaches an early respect for the environment by encouraging children, parents and staff to participate in programmes such as recycling at school and organic cooking and gardening.
Your child will also learn about living and working in the countryside. School activities include music, dance, poetry, art and drama - all taught by qualified instructors and included in the fees.
Growing Healthy Minds and Healthy Bodies!
Healthy bodies are an important part of our mission, so our children eat wholesome organic foods and drinks (%80+) prepared from scratch in our kitchen by our amazing cook Maureen (who loathes using anything from a jar!). Our babies never eat from a jar or packet, as all of our baby food is prepare fresh on-site daily. Our children also learn how to prepare healthy meals though our in-house organic cooking and gardening programme, promoting a healthy diet for life from an early age.
In the large indoor gymnasium, children exercise daily. Our program offers pre-school and toddler games, sports, yoga, and early years drama taught by Serien, a qualified early years drama instructor!
Children play outside in the secure garden, and participate in walks along safe village footpaths to areas of special interest, (such as the pocket park full of natural wildlife, horses in nearby fields, and the local playing fields).
Since our community is growing ever larger within Europe, children attending our nursery get the chance to develop an early ear for languages with introduction to French through children's songs, games and nursery rhymes.
We hope that what your child learns at Hedgehog Hill will stay with them for life, and we strive to provide a model nursery which promotes healthier lifestyles - from birth!
