Learning to play and learning to learn.

At St Clare's we aim to provide a happy, stimulating, caring and supportive environment. This allows all pupils to develop to their full potential whilst learning to respect others and the environment.

At St Clare's Nursery we aim to encourage children to become actively involved in their own development through experiential learning.

The curriculum we implement follows the Welsh Assembly Government's Foundation Phase guidelines which promote the holistic development of children through 7 areas of learning.

Personal & Social Development, Well-being & Cultural Diversity
Language, Literacy and Communication Skills
Mathematical Development
Welsh Language Development
Knowledge & Understanding of the World
Physical Development
Creative Development

A notice board outside the Nursery provides further information for parents and carers about daily learning activities, trips and visitors to the Nursery. Written reports and Parents' Evening keep parents updated with their child's progress throughout the year.

The Nursery Day (for full time pupils) is from 9am - 3pm for children aged from 2.5 years. Children may also attend part time for either some whole days or morning sessions by arrangement with staff. For busy working parents our after-school club 'Time out' runs from 3.15-5.30pm every day. Nursery children are collected by a member of Time Out staff and taken to the main school.

Our recent Estyn Nursery Inspection in May 2008 highlighted:

"[St Clare's Nursery] Children are excellent communicators."
"Children display confidence and respond positively to new experiences."
"The provision for enhancing children's spiritual and moral development is outstanding".

We look forward to your visit and the opportunity to show you our Nursery in action!

Highlights
  • Excellent reputation for developing children into confident and effective communicators.
