We would like to welcome you and your child to our nursery and we hope that the following information will be of use to you in outlining our services.

Aims and Ethos

We aim to provide a safe, stimulating and caring environment in which, by way of a variety of educational play opportunities, each child can be encouraged to reach his or her full potential thus promoting the social and emotional well-being of each child.

We are situated in the grounds of Upton hospital and welcome children from parents whom work in the health services, local businesses in slough and the local community.

The nursery can accommodate up to 70 children between three months and five years.

The nursery is registered with, and regularly inspected by OFSTED - Office for standards in teaching - and is part of Berkshire shared services, thus subject to it's policies and procedures.

These ensure the health and safety of, not only the children, but also the staff.

The nursery staff regularly attend training and therefore meet all of the standards required to enable parents to access the three and four year old funding provided by the government through the Early years Development and Child care partnership.

Our Mission statement details that:

Effective education requires both a relevant curriculum and practitioners who understand and are able to implement the curriculum requirements

Effective education requires practitioners who understand that children develop rapidly during the early years - physically, intellectually, emotionally and socially

Practitioners should ensure that all children feel included, secure and valued

Early years experience should build on what children already know and can do

No child should be excluded or disadvantaged

Parents and practitioners should work together in an atmosphere of mutual respect

To be effective, an early years curriculum should be carefully structured (recognising different starting points; relevant to levels of need; indoors and outdoors)

There should be opportunities for children to engage in activities planned by adults and those that they plan or initiate themselves.

Practitioners must be able to observe and respond appropriately to children informed by a knowledge of how children develop and learn

Well planned, purposeful activity and appropriate intervention by practitioners will engage children in the learning process

For children to have rich and stimulating experiences, the learning environment should be well planned and well organised

Above all, effective learning and development for young children requires high quality care and education by practitioners
