Child First in Aylesbury is rapidly gaining a reputation for excellence. In a unique building (not very photogenic - so you have to come and see it) this 1970's Church has been converted to a vibrant activity space where children really do learn together.
Having only been here for a year, we have done a lot to the inside first and Spring 2008 will see us developing the outdoors further.
Indoors has changed from a cramped set of 'classrooms' (some in the basement with no windows!) to a freeflow space where children can and do follow their own ambitions.
So while tired children rest, others get involved in artwork, others read and some are downstairs in the dining room.
The team is extraordinary too - having developed a really informal style that oozes professionalism.
Food and nutrition is a real priority - and we make our own - bread - soup - pasta - grow vegetables and have really good home cooked and fresh food every day.
Parents can (and do) join in for coffee and breakfast with their children (or on their own) and have access to wireless broadband if they want to stay for a while.
And we are looking forward to the NCT using our facilities next year too.
