We are OFSTED registered for just 26 places of six babies 0-2 years old & twenty 2-5 year olds. We are registered for nursery grant vouchers for 3 & 4 year olds, and we take employers vouchers from companies such as Busy Bees & TEDS.
VKG is a daycare nursery, a small friendly unit with an emphasis on the family-style care. The babies have their own room, with appropriate toys and cots for naps, but join the older children as much as possible for activities and at every mealtime.
At VKG we follow the High/Scope philosophy, which encourages active learning. (more about this approach on our website)
Our out-side playground has a variety of equipment and toys, and a patio leading to a large grassed area with a sensory garden and an area which we are developing into an orchard over the coming years.
There is also a separate baby playground so the little ones can get fresh air under parasols etc in the summer without fear if being mown down by the toddlers on their vehicles!! We do all join in together outside as much as possible weather permitting- although we say we are only limited by the children's clothes not the weather! We use the field behind the nursery for nature-walks and to watch the spring lambs when they are allowed in.
At VKG we feel it's very important to help the children to develop social skills, preparing them for the more formal environment at school and life beyond. Table-manners and thinking of others, taking turns and sharing, toilet-training and promoting independence when dressing are all part of growing up and sometimes some of the most difficult things to learn when you're a toddler!
Each child is allowed to grow and develop at his or her own pace, and we encourage them to explore while keeping their interest, letting them enjoy their childhood while helping them achieve their milestones in life.
